DRIVE A ANNOUNCE “THE WORLD IN SHAMBLES”, REVOLT TOUR 2011

DRIVE A ANNOUNCE THE WORLD IN SHAMBLES, REVOLT TOUR 2011
Inaugural Bill Includes Hollywood Undead, 10 Years, Drive A, New Medicine

Sometimes a chance meeting is more than it seems – in the case of Drive A, a random moment ignited a fuse resulting in an incendiary new band. Songs about rebellion, lethal guitars and killer hooks have their foundation in old school punk and rock n' roll that the band reveres but their stage presence and delivery puts them firmly in the now.  With a fan following that is expanding exponentially, it's clear that the band is onto something. Drive A come roaring into 2011 with their brand new album, The World in Shambles, out on Dead Conflict Records and a support slot on the House of Blues Revolt Tour 2011 with Hollywood Undead, 10 Years and New Medicine. The tour kicks off April 6th in Boston and runs through May 27th, covering the United States. TICKETS: http://www.livenation.com/Hollywood-Undead-tickets/artist/1244694

"We are excited to be a part of the inaugural run of the REVOLT! Tour," says frontman Bruno Mascolo. "We look forward to sharing the stage with Hollywood Undead, 10 Years, and New Medicine. It's going to be a great tour." Drive A are celebrating the tour and new album by offering a free download of "Revolt" from The World In Shambles, check it out here! www.therevolttour.com

The World in Shambles is the follow up to their debut album Loss of Desire (2009). The critically acclaimed album which featured singles "Are You Blind" and "Can't Sleep It Off" set the precedent for Drive A's form of high energy rock n' roll and provided the soundtrack for their energetic live show.  Frontman Bruno Mascolo explains "although we're still proud of Loss of Desire, we feel we've come along way as musicians and songwriters, you can hear that we've played about 200 shows since our last record." The band freely admits that their singular mission upon entering the studio was to craft an album that bottled their firecracker live energy and onstage prowess. They collectively rejected polished, computerized techniques and technologies in favor of beautiful, genuine imperfections, all of which serve to make The World in Shambles that much more authentic.

The California quartet formed after singer/guitarist Bruno Mascolo and guitarist Jason Nott ran into each other one night outside of Hollywood's Troubadour in 2006. After realizing they both possessed the drive and passion to start their own band, they recruited drummer Cody Root via a mutual friend. Bassist Taylor Knowles joined the band after seeing them open for Set Your Goals in Orlando. He became a fan based on their live performance and when the bass player position opened, he got in touch through the wonders of social networking and secured his slot in the rhythm section.

Drive A has steadily built a following of fans by touring with the likes of Alkaline Trio, The Used, Atreyu, Bullet For My Valentine and Escape the Fate over the past two years. It's the band's onstage power that has attracted an alliance of kids that continue to multiply with every tour. Nott summed up the band's relationship with their fans and the crowds, saying, "We're a breath of fresh air for them. We're only a couple years older than the kids listening and they can relate."

A switchblade to the soft, white underbelly of today's watered-down state of music, DRIVE A are pure, raw energy--on stage and in the studio--which is, after all, what Rock 'N' Roll has always been about. The release of their sophomore album and the House of Blues Revolt Tour 2011 are a match made in heaven.  "Touring is the life's blood of this band," says Bruno. "Recording and everything else is cool, but we are a live band and that is the best way to experience DRIVE A."

SAM ROBERTS BAND TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM, "COLLIDER"

Sam Roberts Band is thrilled to announce the release of their new album, Collider. Set for a May 10th release on Zoë/Rounder Records, Collider reinforces the spirit of the band's classic pop song craft and infectious melodies that countless critics fell in love with. Joined by Califone percussionist Ben Massarella and Antibalas woodwind wizard Stuart Bogie, the band explores a world of rhythms, sounds and ideas that challenged their understanding of themselves and the music that they were making. Produced by Chicago-based producer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse / Iron and Wine,) Collider is the follow up to Roberts' critically acclaimed album Love At The End Of The World.

The new energy is immediately apparent on the album's opening track "The Last Crusade," which begins as a simmering soul shuffle before gradually intensifying into a brass-blasted Afro-funk blowout. Bogie and Massarella's role on this album amounts to more than just firing up the band's funkiness on tracks like "Let It In" and adding a Sticky Fingers swing to "Sang Froid." The process of opening up the songs to accommodate their guest contributions forced the band to refine and refocus their own playing.

Collider is noticeably bereft of the scorching guitar solos that define the band's powerhouse live performances. Here the guitars are a textural tool to emphasize the rhythm - a tactic that ultimately shines a greater light on Roberts' instantly familiar melodies and lyrical wisdom, yielding some of his most affecting performances to date - especially on the sad-eyed track "Twist the Knife" and the end-of-relationship requiem "Longitude," a dreamy duet with Land of Talk's Elizabeth Powell.

"There's got to be some desperation to your writing," Roberts says. "You've got to maintain that feeling of survival - that you can lose your grip at any time. That's where songs like these come from - from the realization that you can never figure it out completely, that your grip can never hold on forever. It's always there; every time I sit down to write. That's why the record is called what it is: ideas collide, especially when you're making music. When you take things that are seemingly different, you can smash them together and create something new."

And that's ultimately what Collider is about for Sam Roberts - musical exploration as a vehicle for emotional introspection. Despite what the album's opening track might tell you, this is not the last crusade he's on ... but the point is that it should feel like it is.

The Wave Pictures New Album Beer In The Breakers on Moshi Moshi Records news

THE WAVE PICTURES ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM BEER IN THE BREAKERS
NORTH AMERICAN RELEASE APRIL 19TH ON MOSHI MOSHI RECORDS

Moshi Moshi Records and The Wave Pictures are proud to announce the release of Beer In The Breakers, out April 19th 2011. True to their lo-fi aesthetic the band recorded the album live to tape in one day at friend and frequent collaborator Darren Hayman's (of British band Hefner) house in Walthamstow, England.

The British trio made their North American debut last year with the release of the double album Instant Coffee Baby and If You Leave It Alone. Already sporting a decades long history in the UK and Europe that spanned well over 30 releases, Time Out New York noted that it was "unlikely to encounter any band at such a late hour - particularly one as engaging as The Wave Pictures."  They won praise from the Village Voice for their "bass inflected songs that drunkenly two-step all over their Wilde-ina social critiques." Pitchfork were charmed by the "keenly observed domestic tableaus, uniquely English perspectives on hubris and buffoonery, and ample insta-quotes." And the band continued to win converts at SXSW where they were listed by Spin as a "Must Here Band" and Andy Langer of Esquire declared lead singer David Tattersall "the best guitar player I've seen all week, hands down."

With the new release and tour dates being scheduled for later in the year, The Wave Pictures are eager to continue their foray onto North American soil.  The songs featured on Beer In The Breakers embrace Tattersall's love of E Minor ("Now Your Smile Comes Over In Your Face" and "Beer In The Breakers"), bass player Franic's favorite clothing brand ("Blue Harbour" - a tale of love in Coney Island), and are inspired by band favorites like Otis Rush ("Blink Back A Tear"). The album also includes re-workings of songs written in Tattersall's youth ("China Whale Brand" and ("In Her Kitchen"). The first single from the album ("Little Surprise"), is a track whose upbeat melody belies its dark, poignant lyrics.

smallsLIVE To Release New Recording From Pianist/Composer/Bandleader BRUCE BARTH - LIVE AT SMALLS

Pianist, composer and bandleader Bruce Barth has been a major force in jazz for over twenty years, sharing his music with enthusiastic listeners around the globe.  He has performed on over one hundred recordings and movie soundtracks (including twelve CDs as a leader) and has collaborated with such master musicians as Stanley Turrentine, James Moody, Art Farmer, Phil Woods, Freddie Hubbard, Tom Harrell, Branford Marsalis, Tony Bennett, Terence Blanchard (recording six CD's and several movie soundtracks, and playing on screen in Spike Lee's Malcolm X), and many others.

But it is with his own music, and leading his own bands, where Barth has been able to make his most profound musical statements.  Whether it be playing solo piano (American Landscape on Satchmo Jazz Records), leading an all-star septet (East and West on MaxJazz), leading his trio in a recording live at the legendary Village Vanguard in NYC, or on the recent DVD, Live at Café Del Teatre (recorded live at the Lleida Jazz Festival) or in duo performance (with Steve Wilson on Home, We Always Swing), Barth displays a depth of quality in his voluminous body of compositions, and his deeply personal and expressive prowess on the piano, refined through countless hours on the bandstand and in the studio.

With the release of Bruce Barth-Live at Smalls (on the smallsLIVE label), featuring his trio of Vicente Archer (bass) and Rudy Royston (drums), the veteran pianist/composer/bandleader has once again created a recording that is deeply rooted in the jazz tradition, but sparkles with a perennial modernity that characterizes the best music of our time.  In a recent review in The Newark Star-Ledger, Zan Stewart wrote, "No one sounds quite like Barth.  His solos are characterized by robust swing, his ability to tell a story, and by his rich, beguiling sound."  On Live at Smalls Barth more than lives up to the critical praise and continues to position himself as one of the preeminent jazz pianists and composers of his generation.

Barth commented on Live at Smalls, "The music on Live at Smalls reflects my continually evolving approach to composing and performing in a trio setting.  In each composition I try to create a distinct mood or musical atmosphere."  "Oh Yes I Will" is built on a particular suspended chord in an unusual key, F# Major, and the harmony shifts underneath a repeated melodic figure. "Sunday" is a lyrical tune in three that has the harmonic potential to open up in reckless abandon.  "Wilsonian Alto", titled for Barth's long-term collaborator, Steve Wilson, draws on two Brazilian rhythms, the Partido Alto and Afoxe.  While "Afternoon in Lleida" begins with an open drum introduction over a hypnotic bass ostinato, dissolving into a rhythmically free statement of the melody, and falls into what is known to some veterans of the music as "Grown-folk tempo" (a medium slow swing).  "Peaceful Place" begins with space and simple harmony, with gospel sections interspersed. Barth sums up the music on the recording by saying, "It is my hope that these diverse grooves, colors, and rhythms are the expression of a musical voice that is personal and authentic, as I try to put into my music what I hear and feel.   My composing and playing over the past three decades have been an attempt to go continually deeper, in developing the rhythmic, harmonic, and melodic ideas that give shape to my music."

Barth is joined on Live at Smalls by two of the most sought-after musicians on the scene today, Vicente Archer on bass and Rudy Royston on drums.  Barth has said of his valued collaborators, "I picked Vicente Archer and Rudy Royston for my trio because both have distinctive and expressive voices on their instruments, and play with imagination and intensity. Even more importantly, we share a common philosophy: to play without an agenda - without any preconceptions of what direction the music will go, but rather to be in the moment, listen to each other, and let the music happen spontaneously."

Barth chose compositions for this recording that would challenge the trio and suggest different musical possibilities, without bogging them down with too much detail.  His ideal for the recording of Live at Smalls was to create an environment where all members of the band felt inspired to play in the moment, and to follow the music where it lead them.  "I hope that the listener enjoys the journey as much as we do", Bruce Barth.

smallsLIVE is dedicated to the idea that jazz is best heard in a live context, with minimal editing, captured in the full spontaneous moment in which it was created.  smallsLIVE artists are not placed under any constraints in terms of material, length of cuts or personnel.  The artist chooses all the takes.  the presentation is that of being at the live show.

Celebrate National "Be Nasty" Day with The Snark Handbook!

March 8th is National "Be Nasty" Day
Celebrate with the hillarious and practical insults found in The Snark Handbook: Insult Edition!
This year, on National "Be Nasty" Day, celebrate by refreshing yourself on some of the greatest insults ever uttered in film, television, politics, and literature! The Snark Handbook: Insult Edition provides a comprehensive list of the perfect insults for every situation, spoken by everyone from Oscar Wilde to David Letterman!

Snark expert and bestselling author Larry Dorfman, who is also the author of the original Snark Handbook, comes up with witty phrases on a daily - even hourly - basis! Here are some of his latestsnarks:
  • "Christine Aguilera has had a tough few weeks after her Super Bowl snafu. She had been offered an opportunity for a "do over" by the Brooklyn Cyclones, a Mets farm team, but refused. Word is that she's also recently been rejected for the lead singer slot intwo Christine Aguilera cover bands."
  •  "A former mayor of Fort Wayne, Indiana, who served 4 terms and was one of the city's most popular leaders, won't get a new government center named for him because of his name. Harry Baals (pronounced like you think it is) is the current favorite in online voting but two members of the city council, Anita Head and Holden McGroin, have refused to allow it.
  •  "NYC's mayor Mike Bloomberg is in trouble again for making an insensitive stereotypical Irish joke at a dinner for the American Irish Historical Society. Something about drinking. He's allowed...after all, a man of his stature automatically becomes and honorary leprechaun."

In the book, Dorfman has also included several games in which you match the insult to the TV character or moviestar who said it!

Bellamy Bros. Attorney Issues Statement Regarding Britney Spears

BELLAMY ATTORNEY ISSUES LEGAL STATEMENT REGARDING BRITNEY SPEARS SINGLE

On February 21, 2011Today, attorney Christopher E. Schmidt, legal representation to country music's the Bellamy Brothers, released the following statement in response to pending legal action against pop star Britney Spears:

The Bellamy Brothers have been artists, in the true sense of the word, with over 50 hit songs; more than 20 of those songs reaching the No. 1 position in the country charts over the past 35 years. The music business has given them the rare opportunity to enjoy making a living writing and playing music all over the world. Even though David and Howard are some of the nicest and most down to earth guys you will ever meet, they are also smart and experienced businessmen. So naturally, David asked me for my legal opinion of whether or not the Britney Spears recent single "Hold It Against Me" infringed on the copyright of their song "If I said You Had A Beautiful Body Would You Hold It Against Me" that David wrote in 1979.

In my opinion, it is not necessarily the similarity of the titles that is of legal concern.  This would be more of a trademark issue. Rather, the issue is whether or not the exact lyrics "would you hold it against me" are used in the same way in the hook of the song. It becomes somewhat uncanny if you simply double the beat of the Bellamy Brothers' song and match it up with Britney's version. Literally thousands of fans for both artists have also taken notice. They are scratching their heads questioning whether or not Britney's song "lifted" part of the song previously written by David Bellamy. But for me, the scale tips substantially in knowing that Dr. Luke not only co-produced Britney's song with Max Martin, but that Dr. Luke also co-wrote the song with Max Martin and others. This isn't the first time Max Martin and Dr. Luke have been accused of copyright infringement.

Dr. Luke was sued in 2007 for copyright infringement along with Avril Lavigne and her record label for "lifting" portions of Avril's hit song "Girlfriend." The suit subsequently settled in 2008. There is also a current Katy Perry song that features Snoop Dogg called "California Gurls" produced and co-written by Dr. Luke and Max Martin (among other writers, including Katy Perry) where The Beach Boys' record label has filed a diminutive claim against the writers and publishers of the song for credit and royalties. Dr. Luke was party to yet another copyright infringement suit in 2008 for the song "Feels Like Tonight" by Daughtry. Although this is not conclusive evidence that Dr. Luke intentionally lifted a phrase from a Bellamy Brothers song, it certainly shows a possible pattern and warrants a more serious look into the matter.

As a transactional attorney primarily focusing on managing my clients' careers and protecting their intellectual property, I had a duty to bring in the heavyweights to help us further evaluate the situation. I put a call in to Daniel Moskowitz who is a friend and colleague with the Nashville law firm King & Ballow. Daniel had mentioned to me before that one of the partners in the litigation section of his firm, Richard Busch, had won a multi-million dollar suit against Universal/Aftermath Records for Eminem. Richard also received a jury award of over four million dollars for his clients against Bad Boy Records. Most importantly, I recalled Daniel telling me that Richard recently established new precedence regarding copyright infringement in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit when the court affirmed a ruling that copyright infringement may occur by the copying of a single common word such as "Dog," if the alleged infringer uses that word in the new composition in the same way as it was used in the original musical composition.

This past week, the Bellamy Brothers and I met with Richard Busch to engage his services and handle this matter appropriately. Richard has submitted the two songs to a renowned musicologist for evaluation and expert opinion. From here, it is just a matter of trying to work things out amicably with everyone involved.

"SUCKER PUNCH" SOUNDTRACK - ALISON MOSSHART, QUEEN, EMILIANA TORRINI AND BJÖRK

WaterTower Music is thrilled to announce the release of "Sucker Punch: The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" on March 22, 2011. The audio companion to the film director Zack Snyder describes as "Alice In Wonderland with machine guns" has taken over two years to create, and will delight filmgoers and music fans of all generations.

Snyder (Watchmen, 300), collaborated with Grammy®-nominated composer and music director Marius de Vries (Moulin Rouge!) and composer Tyler Bates (Watchmen, 300, Californication) to select the collection of songs featured on the soundtrack, which play an integral role in the film.

"Working with Marius and re-teaming with Tyler on Sucker Punch's soundtrack was an extraordinary experience," said Snyder. "Sucker Punch is a film created with multiple levels of reality, so this same layered construct had to be considered and applied when approaching the music. The selection of songs we chose and the various ways in which they were each re-envisioned had to add depth, dimension and meaning to the sequences they exist within. Marius and Tyler did an amazing job creating an intricate musical landscape to accompany the surreal imagery of the film."

Fascinatingly reworked versions of classic songs illuminate the soundtrack, with the film's star Emily Browning covering "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" (Eurythmics), "Where Is My Mind?" (The Pixies), and "Asleep" (The Smiths), and stars Carla Gugino (Watchmen) and Oscar Isaac (Robin Hood) performing a sultry, musical theatre-inspired version of "Love Is The Drug" (Roxy Music). Alison Mosshart (The Dead Weather, The Kills) and Carla Azar (Autolux) team up on a haunting version of "Tomorrow Never Knows" (The Beatles). Björk fans will love the newly created version of "Army Of Me (Sucker Punch Remix)" that features Skunk Anansie and clocks in at nearly seven minutes.

Intense, sexy, edgy and highly imaginative, these new and unrestrained arrangements of legendary songs, along with the original mash up of Queen's "I Want It All/We Will Rock You" featuring Armageddon Aka Geddy (Terror Squad), are the backbone of the film driving the relationship between the motives of the characters and the lengths they are willing to go for survival.

TRACK LISTING:

1.   "Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)" - Emily Browning
2.   "Army Of Me (Sucker Punch Remix)"  - Björk featuring Skunk Anansie
3.   "White Rabbit" - Emiliana Torrini
4.   "I Want It All"/"We Will Rock You" Mash-Up - Queen w/ Armageddon Aka Geddy
5.   "Search And Destroy" - Skunk Anansie
6.   "Tomorrow Never Knows" - Alison Mosshart and Carla Azar
7.   "Where Is My Mind?" - Yoav featuring Emily Browning
8.   "Asleep" - Emily Browning
9.   "Love Is The Drug" - Carla Gugino and Oscar Isaac

Sucker Punch is an epic action fantasy that takes us into the vivid imagination of a young girl whose dream world provides the ultimate escape from her darker reality. Unrestrained by the boundaries of time and place, she is free to go where her mind takes her, and her incredible adventures blur the lines between what's real and what is imaginary.

She has been locked away against her will, but Babydoll (Emily Browning) has not lost her will to survive.  Determined to fight for her freedom, she urges four other young girls-the outspoken Rocket (Jena Malone), the street-smart Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens), the fiercely loyal Amber (Jamie Chung) and the reluctant Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish)-to band together and try to escape their terrible fate at the hands of their captors, Blue (Oscar Isaac), Madam Gorski (Carla Gugino) and the High Roller (Jon Hamm).

Led by Babydoll, the girls engage in fantastical warfare against everything from samurais to serpents, with a virtual arsenal at their disposal.  Together, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice in order to stay alive. But with the help of a Wise Man (Scott Glenn), their unbelievable journey-if they succeed-will set them free.

Miles Davis, Albert King & Bill Evans get Definitive discs on Concord

Concord Music Group has assembled three new titles in its ongoing Definitive series, one of which marks the series' initial foray into CMG's vast blues catalog. The Definitive Miles Davis on PrestigeThe Definitive Bill Evans on Riverside and Fantasy; and The Definitive Albert King on Stax span a total of 60 years and include the music of two monumental figures in jazz and an equally influential figure in the blues. Each of the two-CD collections is set for release on April 5, 2011.

The two dozen tracks of The Definitive Miles Davis on Prestige follow the creative evolution of the most revered trumpeter in the annals of jazz. Spanning the first half of the 1950s, the collection captures Miles at the beginning of his breakthrough to mainstream appeal, according to the liner notes by music journalist and historian Ashley Kahn.

"The purpose of this collection is to deliver a full, definitive overview of that very special period in Miles's career," says Kahn. "Its focus covers the nearly six-year period when the trumpeter was signed exclusively to Prestige. Disc 1 offers the best of his 1951 to '56 sessions primarily as a leader of various ad hoc all-star ensembles. Disc 2 provides a generous sampling of Miles the bandleader, in '55 and '56, at the helm of one of the most groundbreaking groups of the day."

The collection also chronicles Miles's dramatic artistic growth over a relatively short time, says Nick Phillips, Concord Music Group's Vice President of Jazz and Catalog A&R and the producer of the collection. "The years between 1951 and 1956 are not a huge amount of time, but the development by Miles — as a musician and as a bandleader — is pretty astonishing in this period," says Phillips. "This culminates in what ended up being one of the most legendary groups in jazz, the Miles Davis Quintet, featuring John Coltrane."

The Definitive Bill Evans on Riverside and Fantasy tracks more than two decades of recordings by a highly influential figure in jazz piano. "It would be difficult to think of a major jazz pianist emerging after 1960 who did not take Bill Evans as a model," says jazz journalist Doug Ramsey, who wrote the liner notes for the 25-song collection that begins in the mid-1950s and ends in 1977. "Indeed, many seasoned pianists who preceded Evans altered their styles after hearing him."

What's more, "Evans had a profound effect on how musicians play jazz and how listeners hear it," says Ramsey. "He is so much a part of the jazz atmosphere that many musicians — regardless of instrument — who came of age in the 21st century are not conscious that his concepts helped form them."

The collection also gives proper attention on the second disc to Evans's Fantasy-era recordings of the mid-1970s, says Phillips, who also produced the Evans collection. "Because the Riverside sessions are so acclaimed and so legendary, the Fantasy tracks are often overshadowed," he says. "But in listening to this collection, you realize that Evans was still creating some amazing recordings throughout the Fantasy period with some high-caliber musicians, like Eddie Gomez, Kenny Burrell, Lee Konitz, Tony Bennett, Ray Brown, and Philly Joe Jones."

The Definitive Albert King on Stax follows 15 years worth of recordings — from 1961 to 1975, plus a final track from 1984 — by a bluesman who'd spent the early part of his career playing to an African-American fan base in the roadhouses and theaters of the chitlin' circuit. But by the latter half of the 1960s, the genre "was now attracting the rapt interest of young white listeners, their sensibilities opened wide by the muscular, in-your-face blues rock of the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, and Jimi Hendrix," says roots music historian Bill Dahl in his liner notes for the collection. "These new converts were gravitating to the best the idiom had to offer. No single blues guitarist made a more stunning impact during that tumultuous timeframe than Albert King."

"For as paradoxical as it might sound, you could make the case that Albert King was a cheery blues guy," says Chris Clough, Concord's manager of catalog development and producer of the Albert King collection. "He had that wry smile, and he often smoked a pipe. He was always well dressed and dapper. He was genuinely interested in putting on a show for his audience, and that sensibility comes through on these tracks."

Dahl suggests that the years between 1966 and 1975 were a "Golden Decade" for King. "He was with Stax that entire time," he says, "right up to the Memphis label's unfortunate demise, cutting one enduring blues classic after another as he scaled the charts over and over again. In the process, King deeply influenced countless up-and-coming blues axemen, even though the ringing licks he coaxed out of his futuristic Gibson Flying V were all but impossible to accurately recreate."

Alternative Press took note of the record as a "solid" stateside debut, sounding like the "British response to The Strokes and stellastarr*." IGGY POP TO RELEASE 4-CD SET "ROADKILL RISING: THE BOOTLEG COLLECTION 1977-2009"

Shout! Factory has announced the May 17 release of a comprehensive    live 4-CD set of newly remastered bootleg tracks by Iggy Pop, titled Roadkill Rising: The Bootleg Collection 1977–2009Sequenced by decade, the set focuses on key songs by The Stooges and tracks culled from Pop's extensive solo catalog, including his hits and an array of covers.

Order the set from ShoutFactory.com and receive a gift with purchase: Iggy Pop – Live in San Francisco – November 27, 1979, a previously unreleased concert CD not available anywhere else, limited to 400 numbered copies http://www.shoutfactorystore.com/prod.aspx?pfid=5257387.

This collection is a part of a series of "official" bootleg releases by Shout! Factory, with the blessing and participation of artists who can now exact a measure of quality control to provide fans with only the best performances, highest quality recordings, and superior packaging with photos and original illustrations.  Previous releases in the series include Emerson Lake & Palmer's A Time And A Place and Todd Rundgren's For Lack Of Honest Work.  Several more releases are currently in the works.

Roadkill Rising features tracks recorded all over the world, including major tracks such as "I Wanna Be Your Dog," "Lust For Life," "Real Wild Child," "China Girl," one of many co-writes with David Bowie. Among the other artists Pop covers here are Them ("Gloria"), The Kinks ("You Really Got Me"), Richard Berry ("Louie, Louie), and The McCoys ("Hang On Sloopy").

Known to many as the "Godfather of Punk" for his groundbreaking recordings and an incredible influence on other artists, Pop (nee James Newell Osterberg), formed the Stooges in 1967 with Ron Asheton, Scott Asheton, and Dave Alexander. It didn't take the band long to become well-known on the Detroit scene, coming up alongside other acts such as MC5. In 1968 the band got their first record deal, as Pop become notorious for his aggressive stage antics. Their first two albums, The Stooges and Fun House, unleashed a new form of music, but by 1971 Pop was battling heroin addiction, the band was dropped by their label, and subsequently broke up.

Pop then began a new phase of his career, working with David Bowie. Iggy & The Stooges reunited, with new member James Williamson replacing Dave Alexander, to release the Bowie-produced Raw Power. However, by 1974 The Stooges had once again disbanded. Pop proceeded on as a solo artist after seeking help in rehab, with Bowie producing and co-writing two albums with him in 1977, The Idiot, which bore the future hit "China Girl," and Lust For Life. In 1979 Pop collaborated with James Williamson once again for New Values.

The 80's were a prolific time for Pop, who released a number of solo albums, including Soldier (1980), Party (1981), Zombie Birdhouse (1982), and Blah, Blah, Blah (1986), which featured the hit "Real Wild Child." In 1988 Pop joined up with Steve Jones of Sex Pistols fame to release the hard rock-leaning Instinct, and with 1990's Brick By Brick scored his first gold-certified album in the U.S. as well as a Top 20 hit with "Candy," a duet with Kate Pierson of the B-52's.

The 90's saw a wave of recognition for Pop, with his songs being covered by a list of artists as diverse as Duran Duran, Slayer and Tom Jones. He released a remastered version of Raw Power, was featured on VH1's Behind The Music, and released two new albums, American Caesar (1993) and Avenue B (1999).

After releasing two more solo efforts, Beat Em Up (2001), and Skull Ring (2003), featuring Ron and Scott Asheton, Pop and The Stooges reunited once again, with Mike Watt taking over for the late Dave Alexander, and thrilled fans at the Coachella festival with their first performance in 30 years. In addition to the release of two retrospective compilations, The Stooges would tour for the next few years and in 2007 released a new album, The Wierdness.

2009 saw the solo release Preliminaires, a jazz influenced album and a true departure for Pop. Tragically, Ron Asheton died of a heart attack in 2009, just a year before The Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Roadkill Rising: The Bootleg Collection 1977–2009, captures the power, intensity and history of Pop and The Stooges and is a must anthology for fans.

The week before in London, dates start on Monday night, April 18th, with a secret show; then move to Dublin Castle in Camden (capacity: 150) on Tuesday, April 19th; then Barfly, also in Camden (capacity: 200) on Wednesday, April 20th; then to King's College (capacity: 500) on Thursday, April 21st; concluding on Friday night at the Koko nightclub (formerly known as the Camden Palace, capacity: 1,400).

The final week in New York City, shows begin on Monday night, May 2nd at the Lower East Side's tiny Pianos bar (capacity: 140); then move a few blocks away to Mercury Lounge (capacity: 250) on Tuesday, May 3rd; then stay in the neighborhood at the Bowery Ballroom (capacity: 500) on Wednesday, May 4th; then to Webster Hall (capacity: 1,400) on Thursday, May 5th; and conclude on Friday night a secret show will be announced.

With loyal fanbase followings on every continent around the world, The Airborne Toxic Event has roared back - as "Changing" picks up momentum at Alternative radio formats, and early sales at all digital partners. Produced by Dave Sardy (credits: Oasis, Band of Horses, the Ting Tings, Twisted Wheel), "Changing"is the first single from ALL AT ONCE.  In addition, check out the first Bombastic video from the band at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgQ9Rk_DT1s.  "The Bombastic" is a weekly series of one-shot, one-take acoustic performances by The Airborne Toxic Event. It will feature every song from the band's new album "All At Once" (available April 26). Week 1, the title track "All At Once," features the Calder Quartet and the Lalo Guerrero Children's Choir and band. Directed by Jon Danovic.

The Airborne Toxic Event is currently playing a series of European residencies.  Throughout February, they are performing every Monday at Paradiso in Amsterdam, every Tuesday at White Trash in Berlin, and every Friday at a different venue in Paris (while also touring extensively throughout the three countries and the UK during the month).

Since its release in 2008, The Airborne Toxic Event, the band's self-titled debut album has sold over 200,000 copies in the U.S., and over 300,000 copies internationally.  Named "Debut Album of the Year" by the Boston Herald, the record spent 53 weeks on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, with eight of those weeks logged at #1.  The album's breakthrough single "Sometime Around Midnight" rose to #4 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart, and was named Alternative Song Of The Year at iTunes.  The next single, "Wishing Well," broke the Top 20 at Alternative radio.  The songs received major airplay internationally on BBC Radio 1 in the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Austria, Canada, Japan, Switzerland, and South East Asia.

The Airborne Toxic Event - Mikel Jollett (vocals, guitar, keyboards),Steven Chen (guitar, keyboards), Anna Bulbrook (viola, keyboards, tambourine, backing vocals), Noah Harmon (bass, backing vocals), and Daren Taylor (drums) - have earned their reputation as an aggressive touring band, known for playing more than 350 dates in support of their debut album release, supporting Kings of Leon, Franz Ferdinand, the Ting Tings, and many others.

As their residency plans show, the Airborne Toxic Event is no stranger to grand musical gestures.  They were the only modern music act to play at the esteemed Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles during its 2009 fall season.  The result was the concert-documentary film All I Ever Wanted, released September 2010, chosen as an official selection to the Raindance Film Festival. The band also performed with The Colorado Symphony in January.  TATE's full-scale U.S. and European tours will follow this spring, with dates to be announced this month.

The Airborne Toxic Event is also familiar to television viewers, having debuted on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly, and appeared on CBS's The Late Show with David Letterman, NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, and the old NBC Late Night with Conan O'Brien.  They headlined a one-hour concert special on DirecTV.  VH1 designated them a "You Oughta Know" artist which later peaked at #4 on VH1's Top 20 countdown.  They have also received A-list rotation on MTV2.
