JIll Andrews Announces Summer Tour With JD Souther

Jill Andrews will head out on a month long North American tour in direct support for acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician JD Souther. The tour kicks off June 12th in Carrboro, NC with stops along the way in New York, Philadelphia, and Boston (complete list of tour dates below).

Performing songs off her debut, The Mirror is set for release on indie label Thirty Tigers on June 7th, and will showcase Andrews' beguiling voice and intimate lyrics.

Recorded with Scott Solter (Superchunk, The Crooked Jades) in North Carolina and Neilson Hubbard (Glen Phillips, Matthew Perryman Jones) in Nashville, The Mirror nudges Andrews' folksy roots into an effortless, classic-pop sensibility and keen eye for human drama.

Much of the new album's production cost was aided by fan contributions via Kickstarter. You can download the disc's title track now on her website, as well as check out her EPK here: www.jillandrews.com.  A video is currently in the works for lead track, "The Mirror" and will be impacting radio in May.

Hailing from Knoxville, TN, Andrews spent five years touring with her band The Everybodyfields.  A rock-solid front woman in sundresses and Frye boots, now, Andrews' voice is accompanied by tender piano, shuffling drums and searing electric guitar to support her careful acoustic picking. Wherever she plays, Andrews offers up a vision of herself as a singular, quickly maturing artist with the power to cross lines of genre and geography, taste and time. She is a force-and a voice-to be reckoned with.

About JD Souther: Widely recognized as one of the principal architects of the Southern California country-rock sound, Souther played a key role in the formation of the Eagles, co-writing many of their hit songs.   His forthcoming album, Natural History, will be released May 31 on eOne Music.    Beyond his fundamental work with the Eagles, Souther has collaborated with countless world-renowned musicians including Linda Ronstadt, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Bonnie Raitt, Warren Zevon, Don Henley, Hugh Masekela, Dixie Chicks, India Arie, Roy Orbison, George Strait, Brian Wilson and Trisha Yearwood.

TOM MORELLO TO RELEASE UNION TOWN on MAY 17th to BENEFIT UNION STRUGGLES ACROSS THE NATION

Tom Morello is set to release Union Town via New West Records digitally on May 17th with a physical CD and Vinyl release to follow on July 19th.  All profits from Union Town will benefit The America Votes Labor Unity Fund via SaveWorkers.org.  The studio recording consists of  8 pro-union songs featuring three Tom Morello originals, as well as the Woody Guthrie classic "This Land Is Your Land" (including the more radical, often censored verses).  On February 21st of this year, Tom Morello performed at the Capitol Square in Madison, WI in protest to an anti-union bill put forward by Governor Scott Walker. To read Morello's editorial about his experience, "Frostbite and Freedom: Tom Morello on the Battle of Madison," please visitRollingStone.com.  The title track from the Union Town EP (full track listing below) is available now at http://saveworkers.org.  On the heels of Union Town, Tom Morello, as The Nightwatchman, will release his third full length solo album, World Wide Rebel Songs, late Summer via New West Records.

Morello stated, "Performing in Madison, Wisconsin and seeing 100,000 people in the streets demanding justice inspired me to record an album of union fighting songs. I've been a proud union man for 22 years and my mom was a union public high school teacher, so for me this fight is very personal. Unions are a crucial counterweight to the raw corporate greed that torpedoed our economy, threatens our environment and wants to strip away decades of social progress. From Cairo to Madison, workers are pushing back and tyrants are falling. Here's a soundtrack for our fight."

The America Votes Labor Unity Fund  supports the unified efforts of a broad coalition of national labor organizations to defend workers and their unions against state legislation, ballot measures and executive orders that will undermine or destroy their rights.  The America Votes Labor Unity Fund accepts donations from labor organizations and individuals who donate on their own behalf.  Please visithttp://saveworkers.org for more details and to make a donation.

Tom Morello is an original member of the rock bands Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, two artists responsible for multiple Grammy Awards and a combined 30 million albums sold worldwide.  He released his first album as The Nightwatchman in 2007.  In 2009, Morello formed the band Street Sweeper Social Club with Boots Riley of The Coup.  Morello was also recognized by Rolling Stone as one of the "100 Greatest Guitar Players of All-Time (#26)."

Tom Morello graduated from Harvard University with honors as a Political Science major and has been a widely recognized political activist throughout his career.  In 2006, he was the recipient of the Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award.  Morello's family has been a constant source of political and social inspiration as his great-uncle, Jomo Kenyatta, was the first President of Kenya, and his mother, Mary Morello, founded Parents for Rock and Rap, an anti-censorship counterweight to Tipper Gore's PMRC (Parents Music Resource Center).  With System of A Down's Serj Tankian, Morello formed Axis of Justice, an organization whose purpose is to bring together musicians, music fans, and grassroots political organizations to fight for social justice.  In the spring of 2008, Morello launched The Justice Tour, a recurring nationwide concert tour.  Tour stops, which have featured members of Guns and Roses, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Jane's Addiction, MC5, Alice in Chains, Cypress Hill and many more, have visited cities with a day dedicated to a local charity and a rock show to benefit that charity at each stop.

Morbid Angel Returns With First Album In 15 Years

After a fifteen year hiatus from recording together, original Morbid Angel members Trey Azagthoth and David Vincent return with Illud Divinum Insanus on June 7.  Drummer Pete Sandoval is recuperating from a back injury, with Tim Yeung now behind the kit.   Over the past five years, Morbid Angel has been conquering stages across the world, and a return to the studio was inevitable.  Vincent shares, "We've been told that this is one of the most anticipated recordings and we pulled out all the stops and pushed things to a new level. This is exciting!" The line-up is rounded out by the highly accomplished Norwegian guitarist Destructhor, who has been with the band for over five years, and performs on Illud Divinum Insanus alongside Azagthoth.

The track listing for the forthcoming album is: "Omni Potens," "Too Extreme!," "Existo Vulgore," "Blades for Baal," "I Am Morbid," "10 More Dead," "Destructos VS the Earth / Attack," "Nevermore," "Beauty Meets Beast," "Radikult," "Profundis – Mea Culpa."

The career of Morbid Angel is simply iconic in status. The line-up has changed multiple times through the years, but with 2011 comes a return of the original duo of David Vincent (Vocals, Bass) and Trey Azagthoth (Guitars).  Since the band's formation in 1984, and their true rise through Altars of Madness (1989), the band unleashed a new level of extreme music on the Earth's consciousness.  Blessed Are The Sick (1991), considered by many to be a true musical masterpiece, Covenant (1993) the first major label release from a death metal band, and Domination (1995), display living proof that creativity does not have to meet conformity in order to achieve commercial success.  The live album Entangled In Chaos (1996) followed, as did the departure of vocalist / bassist Vincent.  An Azagthoth-led Morbid Angel recorded three great albums in Vincent's absence - Formulas Fatal to the Flesh (1997), Gateways to Annihilation (2000), and Heretic (2003) continued to feed the fan base and cement the band's notoriety in the pantheon of Metal."  Over the past five years, an Azagthoth / Vincent led Morbid Angel has been performing in South America and Europe, reclaiming a place high atop the pedestal of extreme music.

Morbid Angel has plans to tour the globe in 2011.  An excursion across The United States is in discussion, and the following appearances overseas have been confirmed:

Manchester Artist Butcher The Bar Announces First Release in Three Years

Manchester-based artist Butcher The Bar (aka Joel Nicholson) has announced his first new material in three years in the form of sophomore LP, For Each A Future Tethered, set for release via Morr Music on June 21

Butcher The Bar gave us insight into his deepest  thoughts three years ago with his debut, Sleep At Your Own Speed, an album that dealt with the uncertainties of growing up - recorded in the intimate light of his bedroom. The first taste of his folk-pop was warmly received, featured in a number of blog playlists for the track "Leave this Town."  Since then Joel has moved into a whole house in Manchester, the rooms of which must be sunny and flooded with light, for the latest songs, with all their delicate melodies, conjure up images of sparkling particles of dust dancing in the sunlight.

In For Each A Future Tethered he shares his personal story with wispy serene vocals and creativearrangements.  There is a wider range of musical accompaniment, with the inclusion of trumpets, clarinets, harmoniums and pianos, resulting in a richer, more developed sound. Some songs - like the confident lullaby "Cradle Song" and "Blood For The Breeze" could be folk standards, while others set new standards for folk music. The music is somewhat reminiscent of label mates Seabear, but his earnest songwriting istrue to the  tradition of great songwriters like Nick Drake, Paul Simon and Elliott Smith.

For Each A Future Tethered Track Listing:

 1. Sign Your Name
2. Bobby
3. Cradle Song
4. Giant
5. Alpha Street West
6. Blood For The Breeze
7. Silk Tilts
8. Sin So Sweet
9. X
10. Cornered To The Cusp
11. Lullaby

Dawes Announce New Release Due In June

ATO Records is proud to announce the release of Nothing Is Wrong, the highly anticipated second album by critically acclaimed Los Angeles-based, Dawes, on June 7, 2011. Nothing Is Wrong is the follow-up to the band's 2009 debut, North Hills (featuring their breakout anthem, "When My Time Comes"), an extraordinary record that was released quietly and soon became regarded among critics and fans across the country as a classic and must-own favorite. A collection of songs that expertly builds upon the template laid by North HillsNothing Is Wrongsees Dawes displaying strong growth and evolution while still manifesting their distinctive, unforgettable voice.

A self-described "American rock 'n' roll band," Dawes represent everything pure and true about that fundamental delineation, four talented friends making music together, fueled by a shared belief in the power of their songs.  With Nothing Is Wrong, singer/guitarist Goldsmith, his brother Griffin on drums, keyboardist Tay Strathairn, and bassist Wylie Gelber - continue to master their blend of singer/songwriter reflection with folk, country, and AOR-inspired arrangements, all ringing guitars, soaring harmonies, and heartfelt melodies.

"We didn't change up our approach too much and yet we were able to create something that I feel has a new identity from our first record," Goldsmith says.  "It's definitely taking a step in a direction and at the same time, it's maintaining what it needs to maintain."

In 2009, Dawes emerged from the ashes of California combo Simon Dawes with North Hills, which drew instant acclaim for its rootsy revitalization of classic El Lay rock.  And like any American rock 'n' roll band worth its salt, Dawes followed up by touring nearly non-stop.  As a result, Goldsmith was only able to write during rare free moments, in the course of brief visits home or while crashing at a friend's for a few days.

Goldsmith took a brief break from the band to record with friends and tourmates John McCauley of Deer Tick and Matt Vasquez of Delta Spirit as the collaborative supergroup Middle Brother, and in September 2010, Dawes reunited with producer Wilson at his new Echo Park studio.  As with North Hills, Dawes opted to record Nothing Is Wrong live to 2" analog tape.  Far from just an exercise in nostalgic authenticity, the band sees the more traditional technique as a way of focusing their energies and affirming their dedication to the creative process.

"If you're writing on a typewriter," Goldsmith says, "you have to commit to whatever you're writing.  Typewriters don't make it easy for you to go back and rethink things.  Same thing with recording analog.  We don't do it because that's what the people we admire did.  We do it because it demands something out of us.  It doesn't allow us to show up lazy or not on our game. We cut every track knowing that this stuff isn't easy to edit."

Along with critical approbation and an ever-growing fan following, Dawes has earned admiration from many of their greatest heroes. Benmont Tench of The Heartbreakers joined the band on organ on both North Hills and Nothing Is Wrong, while the new album's "Fire Away" sees guest vocals from Jackson Browne, who has since invited the band to both support and back him on a European tour.  In addition, after Goldsmith contributed vocals to Robbie Robertson's star-studded new How To Become Clairvoyant, the legendary guitarist/songwriter asked Dawes to serve as his backing combo for a number of promotional performances, sensing in them the character of a true band, a tight knit unit who know how to work together and instinctively play off each other's individual gifts.

Nothing Is Wrong captures both Dawes' studio and stage approaches, matching the loose extemporaneity and crunchy dynamism of the band's live sets with finely honed arrangements and deft musicianship.

Beginning today, fans may obtain an instant free album track download of "If I Wanted Someone" in exchange for signing up on the band's announcement list at www.dawestheband.com.

Beginning next week, ATO Records and Dawes will release a series of weekly videos online featuring interview, candid, recording, and live performance footage leading up to release date on June, 7.  Visit the band's website www.dawestheband.com for more information.
