Miracle Fortress Prepares for North American Tour

Montreal-based musician and producer Miracle Fortress' (aka Graham Van Peltanticipated sophomore album, Was I The Wave? is out today on Secret City Records (Diamond Rings, Plants and Animals)In support of the release he has offered the single "Miscalculationsfor free mp3 download. Miracle Fortress just finished dates with Canadian rapper Shad for the Exclaim! Anniversary Tour and will embark on North American dates in with electro-pop duo Junior Boys.

Van Pelt, a member of DIY party pop group Think About Life
leans in a more electronic direction here than on his 2007 Polaris Prize-nominated debut Five Roses, which garnered critical acclaim from SPIN, Paper, XLR8R and KEXP among others. Was I The Wave? is an album about alienation, anonymity, and the desire for intimacy. Thoughtfully arranged the music translates beautifully live.

Miracle Fortress performed as a duo at this year's SXSW '11, where the Austin Chronicle featured them as an "Ice Cream Man Friday Flavor Picknoting, "I've been waiting for a new Miracle Fortress album for quite some time... I've listened to ['Five Roses'] more than almost any other since then. Really...ask my girlfriend." AOL Spinner said of their performance,  "In a near-pitch black room, with only flickering laser lights outlining his body enough for the audience to see him...it played to the strength of the throbbing beats and helped create a distinct mood for Van Pelt's new found niche of late-night dance club soundtracks."
