Sister Hazel, the five-piece rock band from Gainesville, Florida, has announced its sixth annual Hazelnut Hang at the Windjammer in Isle of Palms, South Carolina, for June 3 – June 5, 2011. The Hazelnut Hang, which the band created as a way to interact more closely with their fans, is a weekend gathering of fans, friends, and the band members to share music, food, and fun, with plenty of time to hang out together. There will be two ticket packages available to Hang attendees, each offering fans different goodies. Fans should be aware that the top-tier package is extremely limited and will sell out quickly. Confirmed to be joining the performance slate for the weekend are Brian Jarvis on June 3rd and TFDI (Tony Lucca, Matt Duke, Jay Nash) on June 4th.
In January 2011, Sister Hazel hosted the 11th annual Rock Boat cruise to "uncharted waters," and Rock Boat XII has already been announced. It is setting sail March 1-5, 2012, aboard the Carnival Ecstasy, departing from New Orleans and heading down to Cozumel, Mexico. Sister Hazel co-founded the Rock Boat cruise with Sixthman in 2001. Sister Hazel has been busy touring (see upcoming dates below) in support of their most recent album, "Heartland Highway," which was released in October 2010. "Heartland Highway" followed closely on the heels of their last album, "Release," which reached the band's highest ever spot (#37) on the Billboard Album Charts, topping even their platinum disc "Somewhere More Familiar." Sister Hazel is: vocalist Ken Block, guitarist/vocalist Drew Copeland, lead guitarist Ryan Newell, drummer Mark Trojanowski and bassist Jett Beres.
