On the heels of releasing their latest album National Bohemian last Tuesday, The Bridge have just premiered a video for the track "Rosie."
The Bridge are currently on the road supporting National Bohemian, which was was produced by Los Lobos' Steve Berlin. From February 8 through February 12, they'll play shows with Tea Leaf Green, after which they'll roll straight into a support slot with Galactic. In March and April, they'll embark on their own headline tour across the U.S.

Todd Sharpville Porchlight
Clocking in over 80 minutes of pure blistering blues, Porchlight is a great introduction to those uninitiated in the music of Todd Sharpville. For those already in the know, this 2-CD set is a reminder of just how great this former “Best U.K. Guitarist” (1995) can be when on top of his game, a world class blues guitarist with chops that call to mind the late Stevie Ray Vaughn, and vocals that can be compared to Vaughn’s brother Jimmie.
Porchlight features 15 tracks, none more than soul stirring than “Why Does It Rain?” As Sharpville wails to God, “down on my knees,” you can feel the blues powering through a soul of a master musician. Other standouts include “When the World is Not Enough,” featuring Kim Wilson of the Fabulous Thunderbirds on harmonica, and “When the Blues Come Calling.”
The latter track also includes the standout guitar work of Joe Louis Walker coming through the right speaker, while Sharpville’s own playing blast through the left. The mix allows the listener to clearly distinguish the individuals’ distinct styles, allowing for an even greater appreciation of the talent of both guitarists

James Yuill Announces US Release of "Movement in a Storm" on Moshi Moshi, Performs at SXSW 2011
London-based electronic musician James Yuill has announced the US release of his sophomore album, Movement in Storm via Moshi Moshi on February 22nd. The followup to Yuill's acclaimed debut, Turning Down Water For Air, Yuill was inspired by the likes of Modeselektor and Apparat for Movement, which has a decidedly more electronic feel to it, yet still includes the decidedly delicate songs that he is known for.
A man with a quasi-monastic lifestyle, Yuill is never happier than when he's making music, alone in his Dalston flat, entirely oblivious to the whims of the east London scene, or the rules and regulations of wider music culture. Here, in his spare bedroom studio, there's no contradiction between delivering a series of acclaimed remixes for other artists (We Have Band, Tilly & The Wall, Au Revoir Simone....), raving about Take That - "Gary Barlow is a genius" - or his teenage obsession with Nirvana. That's James Yuill's world. And he's happy in it.
Yuill's debut, Turning Down Water For Air, was a folk record quietly and modestly underpinned by electronics. It infiltrated clubland (most notably, the massive Prins Thomas re-edit of "This Sweet Love") almost by accident. Movement In A Storm is very different. Where Yuill constructs and develops strummed ideas on his acoustic guitar, it's the way he radically manipulates such outlines that make it a standout. Colored-in with great neon splashes of data, he upgrades, reboots and digitalizes the core of his latest output in a way that only enhances his melancholic tone, heightening the emotional impact immeasurably. Certainly, it should make any journalist think twice before ever mentioning "folktronica" and James Yuill, in the same sentence, ever again.
For a man who started out writing, playing, producing and releasing his own music from his bedroom HQ, Yuill has been getting out and about a bit lately. Since the release of his 2009 debut, he has toured the UK, Europe, Japan and in 2010 made forays into South America and Indonesia, where he played respective sold out shows with Hot Chipand The Temper Trap. He has also toured the US several times, and will be returning to the states for a number of performances at this year's SXSW '11 .

Trashcan Sinatras To Tour North America In March
In the midst of a 20th anniversary celebration that started with the release of new studio album In The Music last year, Trashcan Sinatras return to the road this March, embarking on one of their most extensive North American tours of the past decade.
The month-long acoustic tour will not only offer fans a chance to see the Trashcan Sinatras up close and personal, but also give them an opportunity to help shape the show - the band is taking requests for each date through their website, www.trashcansinatras.com, and is also looking for trumpet, cornet and flugelhorn players to join them onstage at each tour stop.
Trashcan Sinatras released their debut album Cake in 1990, and first toured the United States a year later on the strength of their alternative radio hits "Obscurity Knocks" and "Only Tongue Can Tell." The Scottish imports became instant darlings on the indie-pop scene, their supple harmonies, relaxed arrangements and clever wordplay drawing comparisons to Morrissey's seminal UK outfit The Smiths.
The upcoming tour launches with a free show in Houston, where the band haven't played in more than a decade, and makes first time stops in Charlotte, NC, Northampton, MA, Dayton, OH and Kansas City, MO, while concentrating on markets the band hasn't played since their Weightlifting tours in 2004/5.
Material will span the band's five studio releases, as well as their new live acoustic album Brel, which features the upcoming tour's lineup of Frank Reader (vocals/guitar), John Douglas (guitar/vocals), Paul Livingston (lead guitar) and Stephen Douglas (percussion/vocals).
Unavailable on either of their new releases is the band's cover of the Beatles' "Hello Goodbye," which they were asked to record for a year-long ad campaign promoting Tokyo's Narita Aiport.

BLIZZARD MUSIC TOUR WITH NELLY TOUR ADDS SUPPORTING ACT CALI SWAG DISTRICT
Platinum selling Los Angeles recording group Cali Swag District (Smoove, Yung, JayAre and M-Bone) will be joining Nelly on the Blizzard Music tour which kicks off March 1st. Bank Robber Music and Deutsch LA are proud to announce that the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion will be the music behind Volkswagen's new 21st Century Beetle ad campaign. The band recorded a version of the blues classic "Black Betty" for the spot. The :30 second spot will be premiering during Super Bowl XLV this Sunday.
"Deutsch was working with Volkswagen and contacted me, wanting to get a bunch of bands to cover 'Black Betty,'" said Bank Robber Music's Lyle Hysen. "If one band is going to do this song and get it right for the 21st century, it's going to be The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion."

In "Black Beetle," the first spot for The 21st Century Beetle, cutting-edge CGI creative goes etymological, creating a photo-real lush kingdom where the Black Beetle rules, runs, navigates and out performs all the other creatures. The ad is an homage to some of the greatest car chase scenes in the history of film and TV. With the fast- paced and explosive "Black Betty," the Beetle ad revs to life even though it does not feature any actual images of the car, a bold move for any automotive brand. The iconic shape of the Beetle and its performance attributes are prominently showcased in the spot, further building anticipation of the reveal.
The ad will also have an extension that will live beyond the game. Dierks Bentley Heads to Super Bowl, GRAMMYs & Daytona 500
GRAMMY nominated country music star Dierks Bentley will appear at the country's biggest annual television and sporting events this month including Super Bowl XLV, the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards and the Daytona 500.
Bentley will help kick off the Super Bowl events at the official Bud Light pre-party along with pop superstar Kesha and rap icon Snoop Dogg. The award winning singer/songwriter will also travel to Los Angeles for a Dierks Bentley & Friends pre-GRAMMY show at the Troubadour before presenting at the awards live on CBS. DJ Miller’s “Whatever It Takes” Earns Billboard’s Hot Shot Debut
Evergreen Records recording artist DJ Miller, a native of rural Idaville, Indiana, 21-year-old DJ Miller broke onto the Country music scene in 2010 with his single, "A Little Naughty is Nice." Influenced by artists like Garth Brooks and later Brad Paisley, earned Billboard's "Hot Shot Debut" for the week ending Jan. 31. Miller's latest single, "Whatever It Takes," entered the publication's Country Indicator chart at No.53. The Hot Shot Debut is awarded to the highest-ranking new entry on the Hot Country Songs and Country Indicator chart, respectively. "Whatever It Takes" follows DJ's 2010 single, "A Little Naughty Is Nice."
Miller, known for a high-energy, interactive live show and his down-to-earth persona, has been visiting stations on his second radio tour in support of his debut album, scheduled for a May 17 release. Volbeat has announced additional dates for the band's return to North America. The quartet has steadily risen to become one of the major attractions in the European scene, and the band's legend continues to grow here in the U.S. Volbeat's last visit to North America was a runaway success, with a majority of the headline appearances selling out. Prior, they appeared in arenas across North America joining Lamb of God as support on Metallica's 2009 tour.
Universal Republic released the Danish metal quartet's major label debut BEYOND HELL / ABOVE HEAVEN on December 14, 2010. Overseas, the album debuted at number one on the sales charts in Denmark, Finland and Sweden, and Top 10 in a half dozen additional countries. The UK is the only nation represented at SXSW by its own dedicated venue, Latitude 30, located at 512 San Jacinto Blvd in downtown Austin. Sixty plus bands perform across the week from all four corners of the country, with regionally focused events during the day and British brands hosting the evening SXSW showcases. This unique project returns for a fourth year to again set the stage for some of the UK's best new bands to play to the world, from the heart of Texas.
Lineups for the first two events have been revealed, kicking things off Tuesday, March 15th with the 7digital and UK Trade & Investment showcase with The Boxer Rebellion headlining. 7digital is a leading UK based digital media delivery company that combines a secure and robust technology platform with a catalog of 11 million+ licensed MP3 tracks, and download stores in 16 countries alongside providing the back end for downloads for big brands like MHV and Spotify. Trombone Shorty's star continues to rise as he is honored with more local and national awards. The just-turned 25-year-old New Orleans singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and all-around musical powerhouse was awarded five Best of the Beat Awards from New Orleans' OffBeat magazine. And Troy "Trombone Shorty" Andrews was named among NBC News' The Grio's 100: History Makers in the Making, a list of the top 100 African-American men and women who are writing the next chapter of American history.
At the Best of the Beat ceremony January 28 celebrating OffBeat's nominees, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue received the most awards of the night, winning Artist of the Year, Album of the Year for Backatown, Best R&B/Funk Artist, Best R&B/Funk Album for Backatown, and Best Trombonist. "On Backatown, Trombone Shorty has created an album that brings the New Orleans brass band and funk traditions up to date," says Alex Rawls, editor of OffBeat. "His roots are clearly in the Crescent City, but he has the chops, charisma and stage savvy to take his music to a much larger audience."
Backatown, the band's major label debut, immediately hit #1 on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart, staying there for nine weeks and now, more than nine months later, is still in the Top 5. Backatown is also nominated for this year's GRAMMY for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.
This makes three times since 2007 that OffBeat has awarded Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue Best R&B/Funk Band, while Trombone Shorty himself has picked up three awards for Performer/ Artist of the Year and two awards for Best Trumpeter. Ladysmith Black Mambazo Called Back Home on NPR
For their new album, 'Songs From a Zulu Farm' (out this week on Listen 2 Entertainment Group/Razor & Tie Entertainment), South Africa's a cappella treasure Ladysmith Black Mambazo went back home.
Original band member Albert Mazibuko and 20-year band manager Mitch Goldstein joined NPR Weekend Edition Sunday's host Liane Hansen to discuss how Ladysmith Black Mambazo collected songs traditionally sung by Zulu parents to their children for the new album.
"There's such a rich, wonderful history. A personal history that comes from the group that's not always found in their CDs," Goldstein said. Mazibuko added, "When my grandmother told me about the songs, she said that their parents were singing the same songs to them."

Ladysmith Black Mambazo was featured earlier this month on AOL's Spinner blog, where Mazibuko, said, "Most of these songs we sing, even the traditional songs and the songs we wrote as a group, are the songs that always have lessons of encouragement, this kind of instruction."

The White Stripes would like to announce that today, February 2nd, 2011, their band has officially ended and will make no further new recordings or perform live.
The reason is not due to artistic differences or lack of wanting to continue, nor any health issues as both Meg and Jack are feeling fine and in good health.
It is for a myriad of reasons, but mostly to preserve what is beautiful and special about the band and have it stay that way.
Meg and Jack want to thank every one of their fans and admirers for the incredible support they have given throughout the 13 plus years of The White Stripes' intense and incredible career.
Third Man Records will continue to put out unreleased live and studio recordings from The White Stripes in their Vault subscription record club, as well as through regular channels.
Both Meg and Jack hope this decision isn't met with sorrow by their fans but that it is seen as a positive move done out of respect for the art and music that the band has created. It is also done with the utmost respect to those fans who've shared in those creations, with their feelings considered greatly.
With that in mind the band have this to say:
"The White Stripes do not belong to Meg and Jack anymore. The White Stripes belong to you now and you can do with it whatever you want. The beauty of art and music is that it can last forever if people want it to. Thank you for sharing this experience. Your involvement will never be lost on us and we are truly grateful."

Ivan & Alyosha and Missing Piece Records are thrilled to celebrate the release of Fathers Be Kind, the new EP from the Seattle four-piece praised for their "warm harmonies and lush melodies." (Filter) Just minted an Amazon.com editors pick for 2011, fans can get a taste of Fathers Be Kind live when the band appears on NPR's "Tiny Desk Concerts" on February 7th.
