SXSW APPEARANCE AND NATIONAL SPRING TOUR
WITH ACID MOTHERS TEMPLE TO FOLLOW

Shilpa and Her Happy Hookers have been thrilled with the reaction to their recently released albumTeenage And Torture (Knitting Factory, Jan '11), and very much look forward to taking their act on the road this spring with Acid Mothers Temple.  As a preview of what audiences can expect, check out today's Daytrotter sessionTour Dates Below! If you've yet to hear this wonderful album do not hesitate to ask us for a copy or download.

"The second full-length from this New York group is a brainy and brawny hybrid, unleashing barbed commentary on consumer culture ("Stick It to the Woman") and female beauty ("Venus Shaver") with storming, bare-bones rock'n'roll powered by John Adamski's brutal drumming." - Spin 8 of 10 Stars

"The songs on her new album, "Teenage and Torture" (Knitting Factory), merge the garage-level girl-group rock of early Blondie with the psychobilly stomp and bloodthirsty imagination of The Cramps." - New York Times

"Staggering beyond the mundane, beyond the banal, Teenage and Torture is a stellar collection of Blowsy, unwholesome songs: writhing, scathing, and endlessly worthwhile." -Village Voice

"Shilpa Ray and Her Haappy Hookers' lusty bar rock sounds much more serious than their slapstick band name would suggest, and Teenage and Torture is filled with growling guitar riffs and huge vocals that make it doubly clear Ray I not kidding around.... Rough, rude, and immensely likeable." - Nylon

"Really good albums that blow my hair back, without all the predictability, are few and far between.  That's why I was so excited to discover Shilpa Ray and Her Happy Hookers." Bust

"She channels Sreamin' Jay Hawkins's agonized delivery as she powers her way through rough-hewn blues and dirty garage rock." - The New Yorker

Charley Pride Gives Fans Choices On March 8

CHARLEY PRIDE GIVES FANS CHOICES ON MARCH 8

Pride Keeps Tour Trail Hot; Joins Texas Rangers for Spring Workouts

Without doubt, Charley Pride is one of the most respected and successful personas in all of country music.  After all, it was the three-time Grammy winnerwho made music history when his 1969 classic "All I Have To Offer You Is Me," bolted to the top of the US Country chart, making him the first African American in country music to land a No. 1 hit. To date, the multi-platinum selling Pride holds 36 No. 1 hits and has sold more than 70 million records (albums and singles combined).

On March 8, 2011, Pride releases Choices (Music City Records), his first all-new album in five years.

Choices are exactly what fans will get on the diverse album, which features 13 new recordings.  Album cuts include songs penned by some of Pride's favorite writers including Ted Harris ("Crystal Chandeliers"), Ben Peters ("Kiss An Angel Good Morning"), Charlie Monk, Eddy Raven and Richie McDonald, formerly of Lonestar.

"I've been in the studio a lot over the last few years.  So, I had to make some hard choices when selecting which of the new recordings to include on the album," notes Pride.  "I'm very happy with the final result and I'm thrilled to finally be able to share some of the new music with my fans."

On the road, the Country Music Hall of Famer shows no signs of slowing down as he kicks off an 11-city tour of Canada starting April 27 in Regina, Saskatchewan.  Pride's full tour schedule can be viewed by clicking HERE.

In addition to maintaining a healthy tour schedule, Pride, who recently acquired part ownership of Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers, is currently in Surprise, AZ, keeping himself and the team both in shape and entertained.  Ownership stake aside, it is a long-standing tradition for Pride, a former Negro American League All-Star player, to workout with the Rangers during spring training.

From humble beginnings as a sharecropper's son, to becoming one of country music's greatest pioneers, the "Pride of Country Music" is the first and only African American Grand Ole Opry member in its over 70 year history.  Pride's accolades are endless with multiple Grammy wins, CMA Entertainer of the Year and Top Male Vocalist awards, a Country Music Hall of Fame induction and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Chateau Marmont Releases "One Hundred Realities" Video, Prepares for North American Touring Debut

arisian synth-pop four-piece Chateau Marmont will be making their North American touring debut down to this year's SXSW, with stops in Chicago, NYC and Canada along the way. In support of their upcoming dates Pthey've released their "One Hundreds Realities" Video and mp3.

Chateau Marmont (Guillaume De Maria, Julien Galner, Angy Laperdrix, Raphael Vialla) are known for their remixes ofLa Roux, Heartsrevolution, Ladyhawke, Röyksopp, but the visual representation of their music is equally noteworthy. Their "One Hundreds Realities" video is a black and white geometric playground that plays tricks on space and perspective. The first frame starts with a sphere finding its way into endless portals and possibilities, as each frame that follows unravels into an unexpected optical allusion. Animated and directed by Japanese artist Shinya Sato, this other-worldly video offers the same dreaminess and intricate layering of the "One Hundred Realities" track.

The band is also releasing a combined LP of their previous Solar Apex EP and Nibiru Remixes, called 2008-2009-2010. Be sure to catch Chateau Marmont at one of their performances leading down to SXSW!

"LOUDON WAINWRIGHT III - 40 ODD YEARS" 5-DISC BOX SET Due out MAY 3

40 Odd Years into an exceptionally prolific and storied career, Loudon Wainwright III is being celebrated with an aptly named career-spanning 4-CD/1-DVD box set, including a 40-page book, with an essay by renowned journalist/author David Wild and an introduction by filmmaker and box set co-producer Judd Apatow, to be released by Shout! Factory on May 3, 2011.

The first 200 to pre-order from ShoutFactory.com will receive an exclusive booklet signed by Loudon Wainwright III himself http://www.shoutfactorystore.com/prod.aspx?pfid=5257385

40 Odd Years features songs from throughout Wainwright's career, including works of brilliance such as "The Man Who Couldn't Cry" from 1973's Attempted Mustache, which Johnny Cash would record with producer Rick Rubin decades later, to the genuinely odd "Dead Skunk," which became a #16 pop hit and thus a true novelty in the Wainwright canon, to highlights from his most recent projects, including cuts from the Grammy®-winning album High Wide & Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project. The 3+ hour DVD includes an extremely rare documentary made for Dutch television entitled One Man Guy, TV appearances on the BBC, Saturday Night Live, and Austin City Limits, as well as several unreleased concert performances.

Famed comedy powerhouse Judd Apatow, who co-produced the set with Wainwright, and who credits the artist as a great influence on his own career, writes in his introduction "I wanted to do what he has always done: to be brutally honest, emotional, hilarious and sweet all at the same time. Whenever I wonder what my tone might be, if I am confused, I just listen to a Loudon Wainwright song."

In his essay, David Wild notes that "Wainwright has long been one of our most fearless troubadours. His art is fearless even though his songs are shot full of fear and fun, false pride, tortured insecurity and a lovely and graceful kind of self-deprecating genius. Whether he's being devastatingly funny, fully self-lacerating or just brutally confessional, Loudon Wainwright III has always been a writer who sharply expresses his own distinct point of view on our larger human comedy."

The New York-born Grammy-winning songwriter has traveled a remarkable path. Discovered by Atlantic's Nesuhi Ertegun and John Hammond, Sr., the Columbia A&R man who had already signed Bob Dylan and would soon sign Bruce Springsteen, Wainwright established his literary yet utterly unpretentious take on the grand folk music tradition right from the start. The son of Loudon Wainwright II, a prominent editor and columnist for Life magazine, Wainwright III studied acting at Carnegie Mellon University before dropping out to pursue a music career. After a short time performing at clubs in Boston and New York City, he signed his first record deal, in 1968. As Wainwright recalls, "I made the first two albums that were critical successes, but no one bought them, and Atlantic dropped me. So then Clive Davis signed me at Columbia with the understanding that I'd actually try and play with some other musicians too."

A year or two later Wainwright appeared, albeit fleetingly, as Captain Spaulding — "the singing surgeon" — on three episodes during the third season of the historic television series M*A*S*H. That was the opening salvo of an impressive second career for Wainwright — as an actor. He played a fantastically flawed father on the Fox TV series Undeclared, his first in a series of projects with famed comedy powerhouse Apatow. He has also appeared in such films as Jacknife28 DaysBig FishThe AviatorElizabethtown and Apatow's The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, in which Wainwright played an obstetrician and contributed some fantastic songs, including "Daughter" (written by Peter Blegvad) and "Grey In L.A."

40 Odd Years — which gathers together all of Loudon Wainwright III's best work — displays his unique approach to music making. Rather than write about global politics or simply sing shallow love songs, Wainwright has focused on writing about life's more domestic, and ultimately universal, aspects. He has written extensively about family and his children, three of whom – Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, and Lucy Wainwright Roche – are songwriters. Other themes include love, lust and the horrible and unkind things we do to one another in our personal lives.

Regardless of prevailing trends or commercial pressures, Wainwright has always continued to follow his beautiful, often heartbreaking muse, no matter what the consequences. This is why his music endures, 23 albums and 40 odd years later, and why Loudon remains a true American treasure to this day.

"I'm lucky — it still feels like there's work to do, and I'm doing it," says the 64-year-old singer-songwriter. "I hate the travel, the airports, the hotels, but I love the job itself, which is writing the songs and doing the shows. As a kid I had a dream of being a performer, and lo and behold it came true. Not only that but it turned out I was a writer, something I didn't necessarily want to become, probably because my old man seemed so tortured and miserable about his work. But I became one anyway. So now the plan is to keep performing and writing for as long as possible."

It's all enough to make you hope for another 40 Odd Years.
